“Your latest commentary is brilliant reading. I sent a copy to my ex-wife Caroline in Cirencester. All of the photos in the Cotswolds look familiar. I really like many of the observations, including the one about Robin Hood and Trump.
My path meandered quite a bit, in the end I'm quite pleased with the results, I don't care about 'flash' things unless they speak directly to me, like my old Motocycle .
If one gets on a wrong path it's possible (perhaps advisable) to change the path, I've done it a few times and have always made good in the end .
My many Motocycles have led me many places both literally and as teaching tools that allowed me to have the interesting and rewarding life I've had .
I've spent two different years in a wheel chair behind my love of Motocycling, the entire time in the hospital or wheel chair my #1 concern was : how soon will I be riding again .
After my first 'fatal' crash I had a cane carrier made of ballistic nylon by a Hollywood costumer, sadly she's moved away .
I told her "think of Conan The Barbarian's sword carrier but for my cane" and she made it, I used it until my second 'fatal' crash, it got badly damaged so now I sit on the cane, once in a while I'll loose it and have to go running back to pick it up, I now walk like Charlie Chaplin so I'm sure me trying to run is comical .
I need to cane for balance. with out it I do face plants, painful and embarrassing .
Yesterday (Sunday) after my pre dawn ride for coffee and WiFi the alternator failed so I puttered home and set to work, it only took me a few hours to replace the bad rotor and whilst I had it apart I fiddled with a few other things then had a very nice afternoon ride up the (in)famous Angeles Crest Highway, what a great time =8-) .
Older machines are not better per se, it's all in how they operate, there's nothing in life like operating a vintage Motor vehicle .
It helped to listen while I read. Yes keep walking.
I’ve also heard if you don’t know where you’re going, you won’t realize when you’ve arrived, you won’t recognize nowhere and you won’t realize you’re somewhere.
I certainly know that, Ted old boy, but not only do the best made plans sometimes lead you astray, but I’ve found that being open to accident and incident, has always led me forward.
It’s been proven in automotive accidents that flexibility increases one’s chances of survival. Maybe the same applies to life in general and other kinds of flexibility. Maybe you’re a case study of that. Maybe I am too to an extent. Maybe that’s another reason I like to read your blogs.
ELLEN SANDER:
“Good luck, my friend 🧡.
Rabbi & Dali Lama
And when I needed help & asked for it, the cup was empty
And I had to go whether I had the means or not
And it was always there whether I wanted it or not
And I had no choice, but I chose not to
And there was no escape no matter where I turned
And I read myths – Pandora’s Box – to try to understand
And I kept turning away to find
And I found it
And it wasn’t there
And it was in the public not the private
And I went to the chapel where I sang in the choir
And the more I looked
And the more I stayed away
And when I came near the thirst was unquenchable
And I stayed as far away as I could
And it was still there
And I found a white, round cup
And the rabbi said fill it with love for God, for family, friends, but most importantly, love for yourself
And remembrance, tell stories, remember
And I learned the body is not made of gold, to last, but clay
And there are imperceptible cracks in the cup
And I filled the cup
And I drank until empty
And when I’m thirsty, I fill it again & drink till empty
And my heart will always be full of its non-existence in a physical way
And my heart will always be full of love regardless”

Thanks, Steve. Sorry about the Substack technical issues..
JUDITH AUBERJONOIS:
“what a beautiful place to move through. I'm reminded of that line from The Desiderata:
"With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world…"
That’s good company to be reminded of. Thanks Judith..
Nice ;

The African chant only played 30 seconds .
-Nate
Your motorcycle, Nate, seems to have led you many places.
Sorry about the African chant on a plane 30 seconds, I struggled with that for a while and I thought I had the whole song. Apparently not.
No worries Sir .

You are one devoted motorcycle rider, Nate!!!
Apparently so =8-) .
I never really noticed until others began commenting on my still riding, now with a cane on board for when I'm stopped .
-Nate
I never heard of that before, Nate. Motorcycle riding with a cane. Good for you.
After my first 'fatal' crash I had a cane carrier made of ballistic nylon by a Hollywood costumer, sadly she's moved away .

I wish I could too

Dunno. Waiting for you to reveal the answer.
I think you can not know where you’re going, Ted, as long as you’re living as best you can in the moment.
As Ella sang, “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m going.”🎵🎵
Well we can think we know and plan for that intended destination or state.
I certainly know that, Ted old boy, but not only do the best made plans sometimes lead you astray, but I’ve found that being open to accident and incident, has always led me forward.

I think I started out pretty rigidly, but worked my whole life on my flexibility
As far as your questions posed, I definitely have the answer: “May-beeeee!”
Nice, Eric.
Thanks Arthur.
Love this!!
Thank you. Did you get the Cat Steven’s song I sent you by messenger?
