My bowels will not abide any kind of a Chile, although I do find it odd that it should have that name since it's so 'hot'
The best Margarita I've had in Los Angeles- and I've had a lot of them- is from Catalina Bar and Grill- the jazz club. I made friends with the bartender and wrote it out for me:
A glass filled half with ice
A shaker filled almost to the brim with ice
(I don't use salt)
then 3oz tequila ( I use Trader Joe's tequila, $12,99, which I will put up against any of the brand names, + 1 1/2 of Triple Sec (can't afford Cuantreau) + 1oz Rose's Lime Juice + 1/2 oz of 'Sweet and Sour'.
Hola, señor Wohl. Fuerst, thanks for reading and emailing on the post. Second, like the post by clicking on the heart & copying and pasting your email and leaving it on the comments on the Substack link site itself. Third, my bowels are the same. Fourth, thanks for the recipe. 🤠😎👍
Loved reading this one Eric! Jimmie (Skaggs), my 2nd husband, and I went to Taos one summer in the early 90's, renting a cool place for a whole month from a family that a playwright we knew introduced us to (where he had stayed previously). We fell in love with both Taos and Santa Fe and thought we might retire to Santa Fe. Went to Santa Fe for Christmas a coupla times. (We lived together for 20 years in LA, and only, finally, officially, got married during our last two.) But then Jimmie died in 2004- just before his 60th birthday- so I stayed on in Highland Park and continued acting. I moved up to Oakland after my daughter sent me an S.O.S.- asking would I move up here to be "backup' w. my grandkids. I said yes and moved up, to "unceded Lisjan Ohlone territory" ( a.k.a. 'Oakland'), in 2016. I love both Santa Fe and Taos!! Am so happy for you and your wife and son (even though you have written he says he only loves LA!!) that you now get to experience the red and green chile sauces, the margaritas, (and possibly one still can go to the big regional pow wow outside Taos Pueblo??)
Always glad to hear from you, Virginia. Thanks for reading. And for your fond memories of Taos and Santa Fe😁🤠🤠
Pickle ball is short form of tennis with paddles instead of rackets. I think it’s the fastest growing sport in America, especially popular amongst seniors.
Another informative and entertaining post even though I’d correct a few things. Like Mi Gusto is not I Like. It’s My Taste. Me Gusta would be I Like. And the best pickleball player in Santa Fe has to be TRULES! Especially after a few margaritas.
Gracias, as always, Ted, even though I’d correct a few things. First, my incorrect spelling of “me gusta”, proves that I AM a gringo AND that I already had a few margaritas while I was writing the piece. Second, I was just being modest in saying that Nava was the best Pickleball player in Santa Fe.🤠🤠
Re-read and enjoyed dedication to details.
Thanks, Ed! Take another look at the previous posts. I think they will reveal the same....
Hmmmm can’t wait for the La Choza article, pickle ball and margaritas 🥶♥️
Thanks, Trisha. And for liking all ALL the recent posts u did! #1 Fan!

Haha. Continuing the Spanich lesson: Me Gusto goes a whole other direction. It means I Like Myself. Generally a good thing if you can pull it off.
Sometimes I’m capable of Me Gusto
