Enjoyed the read! My happy place is Indian Springs, Calistoga Olympic size pool stocked from continuous geyser water at about 92 degrees and now unaffordable. Sounds like you encountered the best of the free world of hot springs.
Thank for reading my Substack, Barbara. Could u do me a favor and LIKE the post too (by clicking the Heart)? Is Calistoga near the Bay area? My younger sister, Alison, who went to school in Berkeley and now lives in Walnut Creek & works as a therapist, has been going there for years.
Indian Springs is 2 towns north of the town of Napa. It has been around since the 1800’s, San Franciscans and Eastern Europeans used to go there to escape the SF fog and “take the waters.” I have been going there since the 70’s. It has increasingly become upscale but as a treat we will be going there for a special birthday coming up. Like your sister I continue to work as a therapist.
ERIC! This is the best, I’m so glad you went on this journey for me! To LV hot springs I go! Love the theme music! And thanks for the shoutout, I do love reading your Sub stack, but would love to see you in person!!! Going to gallery social and legato for jazz tomorrow, I hope I see you some where along the way!
I will be going to the Lensic tonight (Saturday), to see and old performance artist/friend, Meredith Monk. Maybe I can stop by Legato afterward, but it will probably be tooooooo late. Thanks for being my #1 FAN!
Great post (as usual) Mick, leader of The Stones was stone ugly but Keith Richards-he was my main man. And not to mention some great songs they composed. Sure wish I had known about the Montezuma hot springs in LAS VEGAS (nm) when I was in Taos. Sounds sublime.
