Funny, what Jen is doing, renting space to artists so they can show their work, and doing it as uncurated is similar to how I have run Electric Lodge, Venice CA, since it’s founding in 1996. I did curate abit by not renting to traditional done before plays.
Jen’s aim is and has been mine-build community and give artist (performers) a chance to share their work with the community.
Unfortunately the pandemic has hit hard. Finally the energy is moving again. Check our schedule for September: likely a world premier of a David Mamet piece.
Good to hear from you, Joel, you ground-breaker! 1996! That's a long time!!!!! Glad to hear the Lodge is back on its post-pandemic feet! Hope to see you here in Santa Fe sooooooooooon!!!
Hi Eric, I really like your piece. It is hilarious to me because Jen Tough is an art colleague of my sister, Dee Tivenan. Dee and I are meeting in Santa Fe September 12 for a week. You and also Jen and her gallery are on our list of people we want to see. Remember when we performed together with Shirley Mordine's dance company at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art. I remember dancing around and through an installation of hanging rope sculptures. Look forward to these convergences soon. Janet Gerson
Life is sometimes far less than 6 degrees of separation, right, Janet? I'm going to Jen Tough's tomorrow afternoon for her husband's new "hand-made" pizza, in his newly-arrived pizza oven. Maybe we can go together when you arrive in September!!!
Another great essay from Mr. Trules...... keep 'em coming!
Thanks, Jim. I hope you saw the post on Club Legato & Alex Murzyn!!! https://trules.substack.com/p/club-legato-puts-santa-fe-on-the?
Sure did..... I already razzed Alex..... "I told you Eric was your biggest fan!"
Painting at one of Jen's studios is a wonderful dream. My sister paints too -- a painting party!
That would be great, Eric. We are staying at Drury Hotel, not renting a car. It would so much fun to go together.
Done deal!!!
