Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Trules! Nice to see you making the best of circumstances and I favor your forward looking philosophy. My question is always “where are the gifts in this challenge!” I know I will be asking myself that question a lot in 2025. But one day at a time and one experience at a time. Enjoyed this a lot!
Always good to hear from you, Els. As far as “the gifts in this challenge“, I think they are present every day. You just have to focus on what you’re grateful for.
You are a fantastic storyteller. I know that when I read your posts, I'll laugh or say 'damn' (in a good way). The first time I heard someone pronounce Mah-drid, I thought that was a strange name and asked how to spell it. To the Spanish-speaking woman, I pronounced it the 'correct' way. "No," they said. "It really is Mah-drid."
I guess the folks who founded that town also established the California town of Los Gatos, pronounced Los Gay-toes, instead of Los Gah-tos. Next time I visit a friend in Santa Fe, I'll take a trip to Mah-drid.
Thanks so much, Mona. Glad you are in my Substack writers’ community. I’ve been to Madrid, Spain, and Madrid, New Mexico is a far cry. Very charming, old school, & funny. But a great Christmas parade. “Damn!”
You have captured the grace of Santa Fe at Christmas and every other day really, she offers us visual, spiritual and sustenance of all kinds, at every turn, when we open our eyes and seek. Beautiful writing Eric.
Beautiful, man. It's so hard to remember we have options when we have a plan and hit traffic. I offer you -- on the chance that you don't subscribe to my newsletter and also 'cause I hope your folk might all enjoy it, my Holiday favorite -- https://vimeo.com/dylanbrody/holiday

Yes, there is. It’s my account.
A favourite...fail early, fail often, but always fail forwards...
...but always, to her, red and green cabbages were to be jade and burgundy, chrysoprase and porphyry. Life has no weapons against a woman like that...
...a life from heroic days, when life was counted dust, weighed in the scale with nobler things, honour, faith and trust...
...it is not down in any map; true places never are...

Thanks so much, Trisha. Mr. annual good cheer this year in El Dorado.
Yep. Life’s path is rarely what we originally planned.
“ only because we’re were feeling so warm” huh?
Merry Christmas and a happy Hanukkah, my man, Ted!

Thanks, Dylan. I subscribe to your newsletter, but I didn’t see any posts. Am I blind or now I can see?
