I just purchased a new summer hat! I love hats but stopped wearing them, I'm not sure exactly why.... but your post has inspired me to get them down from the shelf in the closet and pop one on!!

Thank you !

My father wore fedoras to work in The City - in winter a felt one and in summer a straw one. I “borrowed” his straw one and felt ever so cool when I wore it.

Some people (I’m lookin at you Mr Trules) wear hats well - others like me aaaah not so much!

The hats here can be pricy on the top end. I went to get one at a plaza store and they were over $500 for a few with blemishes. The others averaged over a grand.

Another fun read. I was going to write a chapter about my hats, but you’ve done a better job on your piece. I might have to skip mine.

Dear Eric, Suggest you snd Surya go to visit the Taos Pueblo: you are valuable as an artist and the cowboys and Indians myth in films and tv took over the kids, back when we were kids, but now we need Indigenous wisdom to get us through the climate crisis: go dance at the Intertribal( ok time for non Indigenous people to walk/dance and hear the drum and singing) intervals in a Powow. You will find your groove as a compassionate “human being”, methinks. (Read John Trudell’s spoken word poetry. We need your unique voice too.)Peace, best, virginia

ps check out story teller and singer Isaac Murdoch, Anishinabe, in Canada, “Revolution of love”.

I think back in the day and Los Angeles, I did some reading this with John Trudell. Surya me and Exsel have been to the Taos Pueblo. Unfortunately we didn’t do any powwow dances, but there’s always the future.

Now you have gone and done it Trules!

My kids are on vacation in San Fransisco and I am sending them to Santa Fe to get me a hat!

They won’t return for a week so give me some time and I will send you a picture.

Absolutely fantastic post.

Thank you so much

David

U know, David, although San Francisco and Santa Fe are both abbreviated with SF, they are about 1500 miles away, a 2 Day drive!!🤪

Hahaha and I was telling my daughter how big California was last night! I guess she can look for a hat for me in the other SF.
